I’m in a bit of a chatty mood today and I just felt the need to share this phase of my life with you guys. I started 2017 with a lot of motivation to work and do new things, but somehow that drive to create new content, that passion I once had for my blog and YouTube channel, unknowingly faded away. I was in a stagnant state of mind. Procrastinating for months. Part of the reason for this change was personal ups and downs, but I realised that the negativity on social media and the pressure of taking this up as a full time career was getting to me. I’ll probably elaborate more on this later though.
I’ve been feeling the motivation slowly coming back, and I woke up this morning, with this sudden urge to get back in my game. And that’s exactly why you’re reading this post. We all grow. Be it in our personal or professional lives. And at some point, we’re all bound to feel that stagnancy. In case you’re going through something like this, or you feel that you can relate to this somehow, here’s a few things that helped me get through my stagnant phase :
– Identifying and accepting the change
It took me a while to realise I was actually going through stagnancy. As someone who doesn’t have a 9 to 5 job, being my own boss means I have to reflect on my progress and work from time to time. I’ve realised how important self-reflection is. It helped me identify where I was going wrong. Even though it took me the longest time to get out of this phase, the entire process began with being aware of the problem. Whether it’s someone else pointing it out, or you figuring it out on your own, don’t forget to just take some time off and just think. We’re not all thinkers, I know, but you cannot imagine the difference it can make sometimes.
– Figure out why it’s happening
You’re obviously feeling uninspired for a reason. Maybe your job, or something that you once loved doing, isn’t exciting you anymore. Maybe your personal life isn’t going too well. Maybe what once was your goal, isn’t anymore. Maybe it’s something else altogether. Sometimes talking to a third person can help you figure out why you’re procrastinating. Identifying the root has got to be your first step towards getting rid of the problem.
– Plan a solution
Nothing in life is unsolvable. There’s always a solution. Even if it’s something you may not want to do, but you know is right, work towards getting better. Don’t think of the bigger picture, just start with a small step. Take it one step at a time, just start somewhere and work your way through your problem. It took me months to do it, but today I can finally say that I managed to get through some really tough times recently, and I couldn’t be in a better space right now.
– Take a break
This is probably something the whole world tells us to do, but we don’t always listen. Given the fast paced lives we’re living, I cannot emphasise how important it is to just take some time off sometimes. Be it a break in the form of a holiday, or just cutting off from work, the internet, or social media. It makes the world of a difference to your state of mind, and you’ll actually come back feeling a lot more energised, motivated and relaxed.
– Forget about what others think and say
This is probably the most important point. I’ve grown up living my life for those around me, rather than myself. I’d go through trouble myself, trying to make things easier for others. I would do things according to what others would think of me. Society isn’t the most positive place, and most of us tend to be quite judgemental from time to time. The moment we let the opinion of others influence our actions, that’s where it all starts going downhill. I’ve learnt the hard way. If you’re anything like me, you’re in for trouble haha. Stop letting anyone’s outlook have any kind of power over the things you do, and you’ll be so much happier in life.
I plan on using this platform to not only share things related to fashion, beauty and travel, but also indulge in a little reflection and life related topics from time to time. If there’s anything you’d like to share that could help someone else reading this, you can always leave a comment below.
These images are part of an impromptu shoot that took place at Alchemy, a bed & breakfast apartment in Mumbai that we shot at recently. I happened to be wearing an outfit that complemented this interesting wall, and since I loved the final outcome, I decided to share the shots here with you. I hope you enjoyed today’s post, and are having a great weekend!

Girl you are AMAZING ❤
Loved the post! I also as a blogger sometimes feel demotivated, this is surely gonna help me!
Loved your post. You shouldn’t let all the negativity get to you. That’s something everyone faces in their day to day lives and from such people who themselves are losers in life and dont have anything to do but just crib about others. I face this myself thats why saying. Currently I am at a low point in life with no job and the results are fucked up coz of the shit happening. But I know this phase has come which shall eventually go away someday or the other is what my motivation moto is. I see your posts n videos n stories and I feel damn your life. I want such a life. But not everything looks so golden when u step into it. You will also get your motivation and do great in life… You go girl…❤❤❤❤
You are the cutest.
I love your all posts✌
Going through something similar. Lots of love to you. ❤️❤️
A very inspiring blog post. Fashion aside, this resonates a true call. Handling social pressure is a big deal in this digital world and hence when somebody discusses it with reference to their own experience, it’s heartwarming!
Love your work! It’s great that you decided to share what you’re going through, because so many of us go through the same things because of social pressure and personal problems. All the best and keep doing what you love.

Came here from your latest video and I am so glad that I did. Sometimes people do not realise how hard a career YouTubing or blogging can be. Many of us bloggers go through such low phases and the negativity only makes it worse. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience as it will help other bloggers to get out of this downward spiral with determination. 🙂
Aashnaaaa?❤️ I absolutely love what you’ve written. I am so happy to learn that you are now motivated and inspired to do something. You are such a beautiful soul, and I hope everything gets fine in your life both personally and professionally ??

Hey!!
U are amazing !!!
After reading yr post i m really thinking about how to slove my problems instead of crying.
Even i wanna be a fashion blogger, its been more than 2 years from now but i have still not started anything on social media . Due to so many insecurities that i have …..
Just wanted to thnk u for inspiring people like me!
Loads of love
Hey Aashna! I am Anshika and I am 17 years old. I have been a religious follower of yours since the start. I am not even kidding. I was a kind of girl completely into studies . Following your footsteps I entered the world of fashion and makeup. I enjoy them just so much and they make me feel soo lively. You have been the biggest inspiration to me. I have even tried to meet you but that just doesn’t happen. I am from Indore. When you came to radisson I was at school and thus couldn’t get a chance to meet you. Only if you remember during your stay at pushkar , I was the one who messaged you that I tried my level best but just couldn’t meet you. That day I even called up at the reception so that they could connect my call to your room and I could just get a chance to hear your voice once!
I just wanted to tell you that you are perfect the way you are. These days people want their stars to be perfect in each aspect which is next to impossible! You are drop dead gorgeous, you have the perfect body ( never be conscious about your sexy legs ) and I love your voice. You are even perfect without makeup. No amount of makeup can justify the beautiful soul you are. Always be confident about yourself and just keep one thing in mind that you are the best amongst the rest! You are an inspiration to thousands of teenagers and people out there. Also just f**k body shamers and haters. Never care about them and just keep moving ahead in your life and career with sass and confidence. I trust you!
Also I am soo happy that you are back!!
Love you loads and loads!❤️❤️
I was so needing this and you came like a real blessing. Thanks for sharing this out! Have a happy day 🙂

Keep rocking!
Inspiring 🙂
You are amazing the way you are.. No negativity has the power to change you but I highly agree how negative this blogging life can be…
Keep doing good.. Lots of love..
Wondefully described the ups and downs in life one faces. Self introspection is very much required to know self performance. Like you rightly said if you have a boss he/ she will be regularly judging you but being a self boss require more sense of motivation and maturity.
Quite honestly, you’re right. All of us go through stagnancy at some point in life, and it’s totally okay. Amazing post!
I have no word to explain your cuteness. Looking Stunning. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
I always try to look as hot as you are in this post. I always try short dresses. But The style of dressing is not much easier than you. I will try to buy these shorts for parties.
You are pretty in this outfit.. cool
