I’ve had these pictures ready waiting in my drafts for the longest time now, and I finally decided to stop pushing it any longer. Navratri’s upon us, so it’s actually an apt time for this post to go up too!

When it comes to Indian outfits, I’ve always enjoyed designing my own. This doesn’t mean I don’t indulge in ready-to-wear pieces. I’m a complete sucker for traditional outfits, and can even get a bit carried away when I go shopping! But sometimes, I have a look in mind that I want to customise myself. I love the whole process of buying the fabric, getting the lace, sequin and other tidbits all on my own, and then drawing the pattern out for my tailor (who always gets something wrong!). I usually envision a finished ensemble, and pray that it turns out the way I imagine haha.
I don’t really have the liberty to do all this anymore, since it feels like 24 hours in a day aren’t enough for me. But enough about that, let’s talk about what I’m wearing here. I designed this lehenga myself, a couple of years ago for a wedding in the family. When I bought the fabric and everything else, I had a completely different outfit in mind. The floral work on the lehenga wasn’t supposed to get cut in half like it is here. But like I mentioned before, the person who stitched the outfit for me, decided to get a little creative in the process and finally came up with this. I was a little disappointed in the beginning, but over time, I started to realise that it wasn’t so bad, and the overall ensemble looked quite nice!
I hadn’t worn this outfit since the wedding, but decided to take it for a spin while shooting for Unniyarcha Jewels in July. I love their collection of jewellery, because their pieces have a very strong, fierce vibe going on, while still being very elegant and pretty. If you’re on the lookout for some nice jewellery this season, you could check them out!

Haha, same thing happens with me! Our tailors fail to create that perfect design which we have in our minds!
