My trip to Victoria with #ExploreCanada

Time for part 3 of my trip to Canada with Destination Canada, and this one’s all about the 2 days I spent in Victoria. To see the details of my trip so far, click here for my Whistler post, and here for the Vancouver one. After my day spent in Vancouver, we took a tour bus that picked us up directly from our hotel after breakfast, and took us aboard the ferry that goes to Victoria. I’ve never seen an entire bus get on a ferry and maybe it isn’t that big a deal generally, but it was quite fascinating for me haha.

The ferry ride was absolutely beautiful, but I managed to get a few shots before sitting to enjoy the view for a bit. It then got super windy and cold, so we decided to move downstairs instead, and explore the shops and cafes inside. After the hour long ferry ride, we got back into our coaches and made our way to Butchart Gardens as our first stop in Victoria. I’d heard so much about the gardens and how beautiful they are, but nothing could prepare me for this. I’ve seen spring in a lot of different countries, but nothing has ever compared to the beauty of the blooms here. Cherry blossoms in bloom were on my bucket list since as long as I can remember, and I honestly thought it was too late since all the cherry blossoms in Vancouver weren’t in bloom anymore. But I guess luck was on our side that day, and I got to witness the most beautiful cherry blossom trees, tulips and lots and lots of stunning flowers in bloom. Couldn’t capture pictures with all of them, but I wish you could experience the gardens in person.

After a good 2 hour long stroll, we checked into our hotel for 1 night. Since we had some time to kill, mom and I just decided to walk around Victoria and look for some good food. We found a very interesting Italian restaurant, and decided to spend the evening there. One tip for Indians travelling to Canada; our appetites aren’t as big as that of people living there, so even one regular sized portion is usually good enough for 2 people. My mum and I ordered one regular portion of pasta to share, and couldn’t finish it together! It was super delicious though.

We were extremely exhausted cause the jet lag hadn’t completely worn off, and knew we had a lot to do the next day, so we went to bed early and woke up early the next morning, to get ready for our session of Whale Watching. We did have to enter US waters to spot the whales (this is totally legal btw, you just have to maintain a 200m distance from the whales in US waters and you’re good as long as you don’t dock your boat), but we saw a few in the distance, and with beautiful snow capped mountains around, and the sun shining on our open boat, I had the best morning ever getting closer to nature.

Before we boarded our super cute seaplane over the islands to go back to Vancouver, we walked around Victoria a little more to get a few shots, and grabbed a quick burger for lunch on our way to the airport. Of course, I’ve never been on a seaplane before, and was extremely excited!

I’ve honestly got so much more to share with you, so I hope you’re enjoying the daily updates here. There’s still more coming, including travel guides and details on my overall itinerary and how we planned it, which I hope will be very informative in case you intend to take a trip to Canada in the near future. Until then, have a lovely day! xx
