Shaving Myths Busted!

Shaving Myths Busted!

I have already mentioned that my skin has a low pain threshold and I solely depend on shaving for hair removal. I have seen a lot of people having double thoughts when it comes to shaving, but I being a beauty blogger will never take a chance on my skin and its nourishment. Shaving works perfect for people who have sensitive skin or even at times when you don’t want to spend too much for a painful waxing session, it is easy, quick and the cheapest alternative for removing unwanted hair. I decided to do this post to bust a few shaving myths that has been going on since ages.
1. SHAVING MAKES HAIR GROW DARKER

You must have heard the adage- Shaving makes the hair grow darker, but it’s not true. It looks like that but looks can be very deceiving. When you shave, you chop off the naturally tapered end of the body hair, which creates a blunt end whereas waxing pulls it off from the root making it feel softer because it is no blunter. The tip might feel coarse for a time as it grows and be more noticeable, perhaps making it look darker and thicker- but it’s not the case at all.

2. DRY SHAVING IS OK IF YOU’RE IN A RUSH

A big NO. NEVER dry shave! It will only cause you problems like irritation, dry or flaky skin. When you think about it, putting a blade to the skin is quite traumatic already, don’t make it worse by giving your skin no moisture or support. Ensure that you moisturize well post and pre shaving and don’t wear tight clothes right after shaving as this might irritate the skin.

3. SHAVING WILL LEAVE YOU WITH POKEY HAIR

The very act of cutting may make hair appear thicker for a short time. You may feel so because you are cutting your hair from the surface and not the root. So when a razor slices away the tip, it may appear that the remaining hair, is thicker or darker than it was before the cut. But cutting away part of the hair does not typically change anything about the regrowth process, the tapered hair you had is the hair you’ll get back.

I’m using Gillette’s Venus Breeze here, and that’s my trusty favourite! I’ll be posting a detailed review of it soon! Stay tuned.
